First Meeting Safety: A Practical Checklist
A first meeting should preserve your ability to leave, verify what feels uncertain and keep private information private.
Meet in a public place
For a first meeting, choose a populated location where staff and other people are present.
Control your transport
Have your own route home and enough battery, money or transport access to leave independently.
Share selectively
Avoid revealing your home address or daily routine before trust exists.
Use a check-in
Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to check in.
Consent stays active
Agreement to meet is not agreement to anything else. Consent can be changed or withdrawn at any time.
Remember: Clear intent does not replace consent. If something feels unsafe or coercive, leave the situation and seek appropriate help.
